Retired NFL Kicker Neil Rackers Joins Kicking For The Dream’s Effort to Fight Ovarian Cancer
Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) July 07, 2013 -- Retired NFL kicker Neil Rackers has joined Kicking For The Dream’s effort to fight ovarian cancer, according to NFL Kicker, and Kicking For The Dream founder, Billy Cundiff.
“We are so excited to have Neil on board. He had an excellent career in the league and is someone my wife and I have really enjoyed getting to know,” says Cundiff. “Neil and his wife, Rachel, are great people who love to be involved in charitable causes and we are excited that they are supporting us.”
Rackers says he is glad to support Billy Cundiff’s efforts with Kicking For The Dream.
"I did not hesitate to say 'yes' when Billy invited me to support Kicking For The Dream,” says Rackers. “As NFL players, past and present, we have the opportunity to shed light on causes and support each others' missions. My wife Rachel and I have such respect for Billy and Nicole and are happy to do what we can to spread the word about Kicking For The Dream.”
Rackers says as he moves on from professional kicking, he will use his new business platforms to educate people about Kicking For The Dream.
“As I start the next phase of my professional life with coaching, radio work and a new business 'Kick It Pomos,' I will use these platforms to educate others about this foundation,” says Rackers. “Rachel and I have learned so much about signs of ovarian cancer and the great need for early detection testing. I am proud to be Billy's friend and colleague and am grateful for the work he's doing. Together, we can all make a difference!"

Rackers was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the sixth round of the 2000 NFL Draft. He also played for the Arizona Cardinals, Houston Texans, and Washington Redskins.
Rackers reached, and or surpassed, 20 touchbacks in a season twice in his career.
Rackers once had a streak of 31 consecutive field goals made before missing a 43-yarder in 2005 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
On New Year's Day, 2006, Rackers kicked his 40th field goal of the season, an NFL record. He was rewarded with a spot in that year's Pro Bowl.

About Kicking For The Dream and Colleen’s Dream Foundation:
Billy Cundiff, who has been an NFL kicker for over 10 years for teams such as the Cowboys, Saints, Browns, Ravens and Redskins, launched Kicking For The Dream in May of 2013, as an effort to support Colleen’s Dream Foundation, a foundation which raises money to support research for the early detection of, and improved treatment for, ovarian cancer.
Cundiff says Colleen’s Dream Foundation started in 2012 as a result of his mother-in-law's battle with ovarian cancer.
“Colleen felt it was important to raise money for research that will lead to reliable early detection testing and improved treatment for ovarian cancer,” says Cundiff. “Because so little is known about ovarian cancer in proportion to other women’s health issues, we have an incredible opportunity for research and education.”
