Bristow, VA (PRWEB) July 09, 2013
Northern Virginia Health Coach Amy Butchko is hosting another traditional foods cooking class Sunday, July 21, 2013 at 3 p.m. in Bristow VA. Amy's focus on healthy digestion, detoxication and increased energy will be center stage as participants learn how to create healthy, enzyme rich and "live" probiotic salads at home.
"Super" Salads and Vinaigrettes will cover the myriad superfoods and other gorgeous fresh produce seasonally available summer into fall to create amazing salads with superior flavors and nutritional benefits.
This class includes instruction on making lacto-fermented creamy dressings using traditional preparation methods. Lacto-fermentation is a way to increase available enzymes and probiotic cultures which are reputed to improve digestion and nutrient absorption by the body. Class participants will also learn how to include locally available “super foods” to make a good salad great.
"This class is for anyone who would like to learn how to create highly nutritious meals without a lot of fuss," said Amy Butchko, who will lead the class in her home kitchen on the 21st. "It's also a great opportunity for more seasoned home chefs to get inspiration from seasonal foods and bring some variety to their own menus. We all get in a rut sometimes."
Participants will leave with recipes and new skills, gaining confidence to bring variety home right away.
"I love teaching this class because it speaks to a variety of interests: traditional foodies such as those interested in the research of Weston A. Price will learn how to lacto-ferment dressings, and those interested in raw and plant-based nutrition can also join the fun learning how to layer nutrients with superfoods, including those grown locally," Amy Butchko said. "Just because we call something a "superfood," it doesn't have to be grown in some exotic climate. We have some right here in Virginia!"
