Real Food Works Debuts Gluten-Free Menu Options
Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) July 10, 2013 -- Real Food Works, LLC (http://www.realfoodworks.com), which provides a subscription-based service featuring healthy, plant-based whole food meals prepared by local independent restaurants and delivered fresh to consumers each week, announces a new gluten-free menu option. In response to customer and market demand, the company has worked with its restaurant partners to develop gluten-free food selections in a variety of cuisines.
Gluten is a protein composite in wheat, barley, and rye. Gluten-free eating is one of the top food trends in the country, and whole food plant-based lifestyles are gaining popularity quickly. According to a recent report by The NPD Group (http://www.npd.com), a leading global information company, almost one-third of the U.S. population is interested in eating gluten-free. Locally, Philadelphia was cited as one of the most gluten-free friendly cities in the country by The Examiner. http://www.examiner.com/article/philly-a-gluten-free-friendly-town. On the national level, four books on healthy, whole-food diets recently were featured on the New York Times (http://www.nytimes.com) Best Seller list: “Cooked” by Michael Pollan, “VB6” by Mark Bittman, “My Beef With Meat” by Rip Esselstyn, and “Whole” by T. Colin Campbell.
While numerous food companies are responding to the gluten-free trend by creating gluten-free products to stock supermarket shelves, many of those items have additives that reduce the health benefits of eating gluten-free, notes Lucinda Duncalfe, founder and CEO of Real Food Works. "Most of those products are highly processed and unhealthy—they contain more fats and sugars in place of gluten," she explains. "Our new menu features natural, whole food that is gluten-free and genuinely good for you."
The new Real Food Works Gluten-Free Ingredients plan extends the firm's signature five-meal program by adding the option to receive only meals made with no gluten ingredients. Each week, Real Food Works offers a curated menu of five single-serve fresh entrees plus four alternates, all made with gluten-free ingredients. The weekly subscription costs $89 plus $9 delivery and is available in Philadelphia and the surrounding counties, including NJ.
