In England, Aluminum Foil May Save Drug Addicts' Lives
Miami, FL (PRWEB) July 11, 2013 -- As reported by BBC News (7/4) in their news story titled, “Drug Addicts Given Foil To Encourage Treatment,” drug abusers in England may soon receive free aluminum foil. The foil is used by addicts as a cooking surface to heat up certain drugs so they can be injected. Drugs such as marijuana, cocaine, heroin and crystal meth can be smoked from it. Giving substance abusers foil will encourage them to get help for their addiction.
Harbor Village, located in sunny South Florida, is equipped to help clients with a drug or alcohol dependency, receive private drug treatment in an upscale, 24/7 medically supervised, state-of-the art environment. Every client staying at Harbor Village is greeted by luxury accommodations including a beautifully furnished suite complete with satellite television, over an acre of scenic outdoor lounge area, spa, salon, massage and acupuncture services, NetFlix and Internet access, nutritious, gourmet dining and a personalized program designed for each client's specific problem.
According to the news story, “Drug Addicts Given Foil To Encourage Treatment,” The Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs (ACMD) recommended that new laws be introduced that will allow drug treatment centers to offer foil to addicts. The goal is that drug abusers will seek and continue treatment at a center after they receive the foil.
Home Secretary Theresa May announced in a written statement that she had accepted the ACMD's advice, "subject to the strict condition that it is part of structured efforts to get people into treatment and off drugs." She added that providing foil would also address the "significant health risks" associated with injecting drugs, such as the transmittal of unsafe bloodborne viruses.
If recent history is any indication of success, the new laws should prove to be a winning solution in helping drug addicts recover. According to available findings, the ACMD said that providing drug paraphernalia such as foil at treatment centers, "does increase the number of individuals who engage with the services."
“Drug addicts need to receive treatment as soon as possible or suffer the harmful effects that could end their life. A certified detox center offers the substance abusers the best option for a quick recovery,” said Robert Niznik, Harbor Village CEO.
