Extra Virgin Olive Producer Bellucci Premium Comments on Olive Oil Cocktails
Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) July 09, 2013 -- On July 9, Bellucci Premium, a producer of organic olive oil, responds to an article by the Olive Oil Times that shares recipes for common summer drinks that contain olive oil.
According to the article titled “Extra Virgin Cocktails,” published on July 8th on The Olive Oil Times, the addition of olive oil to drinks in not a new discovery. Massimo D’Addezio, an award winner bartender, created cocktails including olive oil a few years ago. Classic drinks, like Bloody Marys, were given a twist with a hint of olive oil.
Bartender Valentina Bertello was invited to the 10th Anniversary of the Italian Women Olive Oil Producers Association, where she created two delicious drinks that included Sicilian extra virgin olive oil. The article say that the first drink was “a refreshing blend of dark Rum, fresh mint, lime and pineapple juice, crushed cardamom seeds and a great extra virgin from Sicily that was sprayed on the glass just at the moment of serving.” The second drink included gin, crème de cassis, grapefruit juice, extra virgin olive oil and sage.
Natalie Sexenian, marketing manager for Bellucci Premium, says that it is only a matter of time before extra virgin olive oil is introduced to more types of cuisine, including drinks. “Extra virgin olive oil has such a beautiful taste that it should be used to infuse flavor into more varieties of food,” she says. “There are so many different types of flavor profiles for olive oil that each can add a little something different to food.”
The article also details the research that is being conducted to isolate and extract bitters from olives. Researchers at Perugia’s University Food Science Department are currently trying to “extract only the polyphenol antioxidants to create completely natural bitters to add to drinks or non-alcoholic bitter aperitifs and sodas.”
Bellucci offers three different types of oil, including an organic option, with a mild peppery flavor and fruity undertones that will satisfy any palate. Bellucci Premium Toscano extra virgin olive oil uses olives that are grown on the beautiful landscapes of Tuscany, and maintained by 3rd and 4th generation farmers. The third type of oil Bellucci produces is the finest 100% Italian extra virgin olive oil, grown in many different regions of Italy.
