Greenberg Traurig Shareholder Philip Cohen to Receive Corporate Leadership Award From Women’s Housing and Economic Development Corporation
New York (PRWEB) July 09, 2013 -- Philip Cohen, a litigation shareholder with the international law firm Greenberg Traurig LLP, will receive the Corporate Leadership Award from the Women’s Housing and Economic Development Corporation (WHEDco) during their “Step up to the Plate” benefit. The event will take place July 10, 2013 at Yankee Stadium.
WHEDco, a nonprofit located in the South Bronx, reaches over 35,000 people annually through energy-efficient, healthy and affordable homes; early childhood education and youth development; home-based childcare microenterprise and food business incubation; family support services; and arts programming. In addition to the Corporate Leadership Award, WHEDco will recognize individuals for their philanthropy and public service. Honorees for these awards are Lori Chemla, recipient of the Philanthropic Award, and Constance Moran, Bronx Borough Commissioner, NYC Department of Transportation, recipient of the Public Service Leadership Award. Cohen’s award is in recognition of his support and commitment to WHEDco’s mission to build a more beautiful, equitable and economically vibrant Bronx.
Cohen and Greenberg Traurig have been long-time supporters of WHEDco. In June, as part of Greenberg Traurig’s New York Community Service Week, a team of Greenberg Traurig attorneys and business staff volunteered on the rooftop farm at WHEDco’s Intervale Green, an energy-efficient, affordable housing development in the Crotona Park East neighborhood of the Bronx. The firm’s volunteers built new compost bins and weeded the rooftop farm where the Intervale Green residents learn about healthy eating, and growing and cooking their own nutritious food and seasonings.
Cohen co-chairs Greenberg Traurig’s National eDiscovery & eRetention Practice Group. His practice focuses on business disputes, commercial litigation, e-Discovery and e-Retention, and Court-appointed Receiverships.
