New Leadership at California Parent Group Educate Our State
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) July 09, 2013 -- Board chair and co-founder, Crystal Brown, has decided to step down as board chair of Educate Our State. A new set of leaders, Katherine Welch and Vali Frank, will now be heading the organization as co-chairs. Crystal will continue to be an active board member of Educate Our State and a passionate advocate for children and public education in California.
“I am honored and thrilled to take on this new leadership role with Educate Our State,” said Katherine Welch, a long time board member of Educate Our State. Katherine has focused extensively on outreach, fundraising and our proposed ballot initiative. Vali Frank comes to Educate Our State with extensive experience in initiative and parcel tax campaign work as well as a passion to build a long-term, sustainable future for our children.
Educate Our State just concluded its successful “Show Schools the Money” campaign, demanding more funds for schools and asking for a workable new funding formula. They are now gearing up for their next Camp Educate Conference, currently scheduled for September 20-22 in Los Angeles, and their annual Fall Luncheon in San Francisco, which will be held on October 23, 2013.
Katherine and Vali work with a highly skilled board of directors and leaders from all parts of California. We urge you to visit our web page and Facebook page to learn more about our board, current initiatives, and upcoming events.
Educate our State is a grassroots, parent-led, statewide campaign uniting the voices of Californians in support of high-quality public education and to demand real, systemic change. Our 50,000 supporters (and growing) are organizing communities to make sure the parent voice is heard at the table in Sacramento, as well as at the ballot box. We believe parents, together with community leaders, can organize, mobilize and put pressure on all stakeholders to work together and agree on fundamental changes that put our children’s achievement and success first.
