Baseball Umpire Becomes First to Lose Job Over Drugs

As stated in Report: MLB Umpire Let Go After Drug Violation, on June 14, MLB announced that umpire Brian Runge was no longer employed by the league. He was replaced by a Triple-A umpire. MLB did not say why Runge was terminated.
The two people, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Runge failed at least one drug test. At that point, he reached an agreement with the league so he could retain his job as a MLB umpire. When he failed to fully comply with the terms of the agreement, he was discharged.
The AP did not announce what drug violation cause Runge to be dismissed.
