Amirsys Announces the Launch of RADPrimer 3.0, the First Curriculum-Driven Radiology Learning Environment
Salt Lake City, UT (PRWEB) July 09, 2013 -- Amirsys RADPrimer 3.0, a curriculum-driven radiology learning environment, launched this week with expert-guided lessons and over 7,000 assessment questions. Radiology residency programs world-wide have been eagerly anticipating this first-ever comprehensive radiology curriculum. During the first day of the RADPrimer 3.0 launch, residents viewed 6,200 lessons, took 3,700 quizzes and tests, answered 70,000 questions, and viewed 137,000 images.
RADPrimer, which has previously been a case-based learning tool, now provides two comprehensive curricula: Basic and Intermediate. Each of the curricula guides residents through targeted learning in each core discipline: Breast, Cardiac, Gastrointestinal, Genitourinary, Musculoskeletal, Neuroradiology, Nuclear Medicine, Obstetrics, Pediatrics, Thoracic, Ultrasound, and Vascular and Interventional. Also included are Physics and Safety.
“RADPrimer isn’t just for helping residents prepare for major testing events anymore,” says Dr. Ric Harnsberger, Professor of Radiology at the University of Utah and CEO of Amirsys, Inc. “RADPrimer’s comprehensive and challenging curriculum is designed to lead radiology residents, step-by-step, through a series of lessons appropriate for each resident level.”
Each topic-driven lesson includes overviews that summarize the topic highlights, learning objectives, reading assignments, and practice questions. Pre- and post-tests, associated with each module, help measure learning.
RADPrimer’s more than 7,000 questions cover diagnosis, differential diagnosis, anatomy, procedures, physics, and safety. Residents can take the questions in either tutored mode or test mode. In tutored mode, residents learn as they go, receiving tips and hints, as well as links back to important reading topics. In test mode, residents can simulate the test-taking experience, answering questions in quick succession without hints or scoring until the end of the test.
Before taking a group of lessons in a module, residents will take a pre-test. Then, once they have completed the module, they can take a post-test to measure their increase in knowledge. RADPrimer tracks each resident’s progress, so residents can study more efficiently and determine where to focus valuable study time. Program administrators can use pre- and post-test scores, along with lesson-completion status, to track the progress of residents in their program and identify opportunities for improvement. Administrators cans also export test scores and lesson completion statistics as ACGME-style or modality/anatomy-grid reports for each resident.
