Janet TV today announced its plan to hold the Dodgeball National Championships in Austin, Texas on August 24, 2013. The games of this first-ever all-female tournament will be filmed and aired to a nationwide audience on JanetTV. Interested teams and players can sign up for more information at http://www.janettv.com/dodgeball.
“Janet TV began with a passion for promoting women’s sports and highlighting female athletes and active females in their accomplishments. Having a women’s tournament not only allows us to fulfill our mission as an organization, but it also helps these women come together and compete,” Darryl Mobley, CEO of Janet TV, said. “We look forward to capturing the strong and competitive essence of female athletes, and raising money to help defeat ovarian and breast cancers.”
Janet TV’s Dodgeball National Championship is only open to female participants and teams will be broken up into various age groups. Champions will be crowned and prizes will be awarded, making this tournament the first ever all-female championship dodgeball event. Spectators are welcome at the tournament. The proceeds raised from entry fees will be donated to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition and the Susan G. Komen breast cancer foundation.
