Every dollar donated to The Last Well not only goes directly to providing water and sharing the Gospel, but is matched as well, so donors’ kindness will have an immediate, magnified impact.

The Last Well (TLW) today announced that its mission to provide every man, woman and child in Liberia with clean water and the Gospel has received a big boost. Forty individuals and couples in Rockwall County, Texas, have committed a total of $4.5 million.

These anonymous Christ-followers (known as the RC40) from different churches, different denominations, and different backgrounds have come together to catapult the mission of TLW forward. On April 18, they met for the first time with a goal of generating a total of $6 million in commitments before the end of the decade. Less than 60 days later, RC40 reached 75 percent of its local fund-raising target.

The RC40 Fund will serve two purposes. First, a portion will be set aside at the request of specific donors to cover all operational expenses associated with TLW. Simply put, this means that 100 percent of all forthcoming donations go to TLW’s partners in the field to bring clean water and the Gospel to Liberians.

This total donation-to-project scenario is atypical for nonprofits, and enables TLW to put each cent to work on behalf of those Liberians who struggle with either unclean water or having to walk miles to a clean source, and the diseases and hardship that often result.

The rest of the RC40 Fund will act as a dollar-for-dollar matching grant. So, when an individual or company sends in a $20 donation, the gift is matched by another $20, becoming $40. $500 becomes $1,000. $5,000 becomes $10,000. The generosity of the RC40 Fund donors will result in twice as many Liberians receiving water and the Gospel.

“This is truly an unprecedented gathering of people devoted to a single cause,” said Todd Phillips, founder and executive director of The Last Well. “In less than 60 days, we've received commitments to cover 100 percent of the operational expenses for this ministry for more than six years. Every dollar donated to The Last Well not only goes directly to providing water and sharing the Gospel, but is matched as well, so donors’ kindness will have an immediate, magnified impact.”
