Local Indie Rock Favorite The 88 to Perform Live Set at Jones Coffee Roasters' Second Saturdays Music Event July 13
Pasadena, Calif. (PRWEB) July 11, 2013 -- Los Angeles indie rock behemoth The 88 will headline a raucous night of live music at the July installment of Jones Coffee Roasters’ Second Saturdays after-hours live music, food and drink series on Saturday, July 13, 2013 in Pasadena. Hailed as one of today’s best pop/rock bands with five acclaimed albums and a newly released LP, The 88 will be joined by new local hard rock ensemble Sanglorians as well as solo acoustic rock artist Julio Mejia for a night of exceptional live music performances.
“We love the unique sound of The 88, and we’re so excited to have them headline this month’s Second Saturdays, fresh off the release of their new album,” said Chuck Jones, owner of Jones Coffee Roasters. “The kick-off of our monthly Second Saturdays series in June was a tremendous success, and we can’t wait to hear how these three extremely talented musical acts will top it.”
Based in Los Angeles, The 88 is a four-piece indie rock band founded in 2002 by high school pals Adam Merrin (piano/keys) and Keith Slettedahl (vocals/guitar) and later joined by bassist Todd O’Keefe and drummer Anthony Zimmitti. The 88 has toured with renowned artists including The B-52s, Matt Costa, Smashing Pumpkins and the late Elliott Smith and has been featured in dozens of high-profile song placements spanning films, commercials, video games and TV shows, including the theme song of the NBC comedy Community. The 88 released its latest LP, Fortune Teller, in June 2013.
New hard rock band Sanglorians will perform a live set from their upcoming debut album more than a decade in the making, an unconventional manifesto of love and forgiveness and a deeply personal collection born from songwriter and Los Angeles indie rock veteran Daniel Brummel. Sanglorians’ six-member roster includes bassist Jeremy Keeler (Get Set Go), drummer Matt Mayhall (Miranda Lee Richards, Lenka), violinist Morgan Paros (Robotanists), keyboardist/trumpeter Ihui Wu and guitarist Jonathan Gomez.
Second Saturdays’ Local Spotlight will showcase the raw melodies of solo acoustic guitar artist Julio Mejia. Writing and performing his own material since 2007, Julio credits artists Green Day, Death Cab For Cutie and Mexican pop rock band Volovan as his musical influences.
Every second Saturday of the month, Jones Coffee Roasters features a different music theme, spotlighting an eclectic array of local as well as international musical acts that are suitable for the whole family, yet edgy enough for the most serious music aficionados. Second Saturdays tickets are $5 at the door and available now for a special buy-one, get-one free pre-sale promotion at Jones Coffee Roasters.
