I’m stoked to again have the opportunity to have my music heard by such heavy hitters in the music industry.
Denver, CO (PRWEB) July 16, 2013
Unsigned Only, an international multi-genre music competition judged by a host of celebrity judges, this week announced their semi-finalist selections for the 2013 awards. Drew Schofield of Denver, CO is among the top picks in the Folk/Singer Songwriter category.
Schofield has continued to build momentum since his selection as a top 10 finalist in Guitar Center’s Singer Songwriter 2 in March of this year. He and nine others were chosen by Grammy Award-winning producer John Shanks from among 13,000 entrants and competed in Los Angeles for the grand prize, which included an EP to be produced by Shanks as well as an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Jeff Campbell of San Francisco took home the victory this year. Drew’s performance at the competition can be viewed here: http://bit.ly/16plYfL
Drew Schofield’s latest selection by Unsigned Only as a semi-finalist will put his music in front of a host of music industry judges to be narrowed down to a 1st and 2nd place in each of ten categories. In addition, an overall grand prize winner will receive $10,000 cash, a swath of music gear and the opportunity to be mentored by top music industry professionals. The celebrity judges include Carly Simon, Iggy Pop, John Oats, Wynona Judd, Of Monsters and Men, and several other successful performers and acts. “I’m stoked to again have the opportunity to have my music heard by such heavy hitters in the music industry,” says Drew. “This business is all about the connections you make, and I have had so many unbelievable opportunities for that this year.”
And connections are being made indeed! Drew Schofield recently had the honor of playing on stage with Grammy Award winner John Mayer at a surprise appearance at one of Drew’s performances in San Francisco during his Northern California tour in May 2013. “He crashed my show!” says Drew. “I couldn’t even believe what was happening. John’s songwriting and guitar work have been a big influence on me, so it was quite the honor.” Mayer proceeded to play a guitar solo and even chimed in on some vocals as Drew played “You Always Run” from his 2012 record “Away We Go”. A fast-acting fan was able to capture part of the performance on a camera phone and it can be seen at http://bit.ly/185VaET.
Schofield's schedule has been full since the Guitar Center competition. I addition to the California mini tour, Drew also just wrapped up an east coast tour in which he played shows in Philadelphia, Harrisburg, Pittsburgh, and NYC. He will also be touring the midwest in September.
