Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) July 10, 2013 -- "Tackling Sleep Apnea" is the newest offensive play in the arsenal of doctors across the country thanks to David Gergen, President of Pro Player Health Alliance. By teaming up with NFL legends, Pro Player Health Alliance (PPHA) has taken the first step in the future of battling sleep apnea. Fans from every team can attend free public events hosted by PPHA and learn about the personal struggles of their football heroes as well as become educated about the deadly disorder.
Untreated sleep apnea causes excessive daytime sleepiness, which impairs judgment, causes attention deficits, slows reaction times and decreases alertness. Unfortunately, many people go through each day unaware of these symptoms. PPHA events can attract an audience of up to 500 individuals that come to meet the stars that made American football what it is today and find means of treating their sleep apnea.
Even the most fit human beings can be affected by sleep apnea. Super stars of their time, Roy Green and Mike Haynes have both felt the effects of sleep apnea and have joined Pro Player Health Alliance on their all-out awareness campaign. Roy Green has experienced two strokes and two heart attacks due largely in part to sleep apnea. Roy said, "If I had met David Gergen years ago, I wouldn't have had to experience having a heart attack, let alone two heart attacks and strokes. I am extremely grateful for what he's done for me and my former teammates and I'm glad to be a part of spreading awareness on sleep apnea so others don't have to to go through what I did."
David Gergen says, “We want 2013 to be the year we raise awareness of sleep disorder breathing to the community of women and men.” To learn more abuot Pro Player Health Alliance and the "Tackle Sleep Apnea" campaign, visit http://www.proplayersleep.com.
