IRIS Connect proud supporters of the National Teacher Enquiry Network (NTEN)
(PRWEB UK) 12 July 2013 -- The National Teacher Enquiry Network (NTEN) is a network of schools collaborating to investigate, implement and report on teaching innovations. It has been developed alongside schools, in consultation with experts, through a series of pilots supported by the National College for Teaching and Leadership and the National Union of Teachers.
The CPD framework looks at the following 6 areas:
• Leadership & Culture
• Focus of CPD
• Evaluation and Impact
• Support & Challenge
• Processes, systems and resources
• Research, innovation and evidence
“We have a lot in common with the Teacher Development Trust, namely evidence-based approaches to change in schools and a belief that teacher networks are the future of CPD and successful school improvement,” says Andy Newell, Founder of IRIS Connect.
IRIS Connect believes the journey of a teacher from ‘fair’ to ‘good’ to ‘great’ to ‘outstanding’ is a complex one which involves high levels of interaction with colleagues. Implicit in this model is that at different stages teachers require different levels of input and, as professional skills develop, there is a move away from simply building the ‘human capital’ invested in the individual teacher to building the ‘social capital’ of the staff group where skills and knowledge are deployed for mutual support and benefit.
This new partnership will be the active representation of a growing body of evidence underpinning the importance of developing and encouraging active professional interactions between staff.
The National Teacher Enquiry Network focuses sharply on improving teaching and learning through higher quality professional development –and nothing else. Graham Newell, Director of Education at IRIS Connect stated, “This is why we are proud to be supporting a network of currently 17 schools across the UK. The TDT is an excellent organisation in pursuit of effective CPD for teachers and schools – the one thing that really makes a difference in the classroom.”
• IRIS Connect is a collaborative CPD tool that enables teachers to reflect on, analyse and share teaching practice.
• IRIS Connects mobile video technology and a secure web based platform was developed from research into "what works" to improve teaching and learning. It allows deep and objective self-reflection and peer observation; secure permission based sharing of practice; and more effective coaching and mentoring relationships.
• IRIS Connect believes in the collective capacity of teaching professionals to address the challenges they face. By providing appropriate facilitation and learning tools IRIS Connect increases the social capital within and between schools and empowers teachers to discover, develop and share effective teaching through meaningful collaboration.
• IRIS Connect works with over 500 schools and 12,000 teachers in the UK alone, building a network for teachers to securely discuss and share practice with their peers.
