The Cedar Rapids Latino Festival Comes to Greene Square Park on Sunday, July 14, 2013
Cedar Rapids, IA (PRWEB) July 11, 2013 -- The Cedar Rapids Latino Festival, presented by Veridian Credit Union, will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2013, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Greene Square Park, corner of 3rd Ave and 5th Street SE in Cedar Rapids. The festival will celebrate a variety of Latin-American cultures and traditions through live music, dance performances, food and family-friendly activities. In addition, local organizations serving Latino communities will host informational booths. The festival is free and open to the public.
The featured musical entertainment will include performances by two Latin-influenced bands: Tornado Musical and Making Movies. In addition, locally known DJ Riquisimo of J & E Entertainment will provide mixes of Latin music.
Kirkwood Community College SEED International Students and Cambalache’ will perform various folk dances from Latin and Central American cultures throughout the day, including an Argentinian Tango.
Authentic Mexican and Cuban food from local vendors will be available for purchase. There will be many free activities for children, including piñatas, face painting, crafts and other activities.
“The Latino Festival is a time for people of all ages and ethnicities to experience and learn about the rich and diverse Latin culture,” said Anthony Brown, chair on the Cedar Rapids Latino Festival committee. “The festival is a reflection of our welcoming and vibrant community.”
