Music City Festival & BBQ Championship is Back for 5th Year and Better Than Ever
Nashville, Tenn. (PRWEB) July 11, 2013 -- To the delight of “squealing” fans, the Music City Festival & BBQ Championship will make its triumphant return to Nashville’s Lawn at Riverfront on August 23-24. Tickets for the festival are now available online at the website.
The 5th annual event is back and better than ever offering more attractions and events than ever before! Downtown Nashville will be smokin’ hot BBQ competition featuring professional and amateur BBQ teams competing for over $25,000 in prizes and cash.
The two-day festival will feature live music on Riverfront Lawn from the Nashville Blues Society along with several other entertaining activities such as: the Music City Cool Cars & Hot Bikes show, a Kids Zone, Beirgarten and the ever popular People’s Choice Contest where fans can taste and vote on BBQ prepared by the professional competition teams. A new feature to this years festival is “Share Your Fare – A BBQ & Fixings Tasting" presented by Pit Masters from local BBQ restaurants across Middle Tennessee.
As always, the Smokin’ Hot Arena (a crowd favorite) will offer the ultimate VIP experience, where fans can grab a drink and sample some of the best BBQ in the nation!
The BBQ championship is one of few that enjoy sanctioning from both the Memphis BBQ Network and the Kansas City BBQ Society. And did we mention the music? The Grand Ol’ Porker Stage will host Blues on the Lawn. Friday’s headliner is Delta Groove recording artists, the Andy T – Nick Nixon Band. Headlining Saturday is the Scissormen.
While feeding and entertaining thousands of people, the Music City Festival & BBQ Championship has raised over $28,000 for charities over the past four years. This year the BBQ festival will donate a portion of the proceeds to benefit the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital and the Wounded Warrior’s Project. The Cool Cars & Hot Bikes show will benefit the Boy Scouts of America.
The official kick-off party, The SWINE Ball, will be held August 10th. The “Pig Nose-Optional” soirée is the middle class answer to the galas and balls of Nashville’s elite (you’ll not see these folks with their noses in the air in the high-society magazines…or will you?). The 2013 Swine Ball will feature music from Max Headroom along with great BBQ and of course a “hog calling” contest. This year’s ball will donate a portion of the proceeds to the Community Resource Center.
