Rick Otton Reveals Chinese Investment In Australian Real Estate Will Impact Local Property Investors
(PRWEB) July 11, 2013 -- The Australian media, including the ABC and Sydney’s Daily Telegraph, have reported on the increased activity of Chinese investors in the Aussie property market. In a recent interview, property investment expert, Rick Otton, revealed how this trend will impact local buyers, particularly those looking at Sydney real estate investing.
Recently-ousted former Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard openly encouraged foreign investment in Australian property, saying “Chinese investment continues to play an important role in supporting Australia’s economic growth and property sector”.
Ms Gillard recently revealed that in 2011-12 the government approved nearly 5,000 Chinese investment proposals worth approximately $16 billion - almost $4 billion of this was in real estate.
“A breakdown of the figures reveals that Sydney is the focus of this investment, particularly harbourside properties and apartments” said Mr Otton. “And while many of these are the multi-million dollar properties that are out of reach of most Australians, the activity at this end of the market has a knock-on effect.”
“Those who may no longer be able to compete in this top end of the market will move down to the next level, increasing affordability pressure on those already in that market - and so it flows on to each level of affordability.”
“The Chinese property investors look to Sydney real estate for a number of reasons. There is a large established Chinese community there, it has an excellent and reasonably-priced education system, it is highly regarded back home, and the market has remained resilient over recent tough economic times” continued Mr Otton.
New Market Strategies Australian Property Investors
Mr Otton believes that there is the distinct possibility that everyday Aussies may miss out on property investment opportunities if they don’t learn to embrace new, somewhat unconventional, strategies.
“Waiting until you have saved enough for a deposit, and then hoping that your credit history and employment status meet with bank requirements - well, for many that’s just a recipe for ongoing disappointment” Otton explained.
“People who want to get into the real estate market right now, there are proven strategies that will make it happen for them. I have been teaching these techniques for years, with the result that many of my students have been able to create impressive property portfolios” he continued. “All that is needed is the willingness to eschew the ingrained concepts of buying and selling real estate, and to embrace some new learnings.”
Mr Otton has shared these strategies in his real estate book 'How To Buy A House For A Dollar', and provides a free Power Property Profits Pack download on his website HowToBuyAHouseForADollar.com.
