Real Estate Conference Attendees Bring National Knowledge Back to Bend, Oregon
Bend, Oregon (PRWEB) July 11, 2013 -- Real estate professionals from Brooks Resources Corporation, one of the developers behind NorthWest Crossing, have attended several national conferences focused on planning and new urbanism. Knowledge gained from national and international experts at the conferences can be applied in Central Oregon to garner healthful, sustainable growth.
“It’s always important to look outside your own community for ideas and methods that have worked well in other places,” said Romy Mortensen, vice president of sales and marketing for Brooks Resources and board member for West Bend Property Company, the force behind NorthWest Crossing.
She continued, “The opportunity to network with other developers, planners, architects and designers is incredibly valuable. To have the chance to hear and see first-hand what other communities are doing with mixed-use development and place making helps strengthen our own plans and build out as we look at the sustainable future of Central Oregon.”
Over the past two months, representatives from Brooks Resources have attended the following conferences:
2013 Urban Land Institute Spring Meeting, attended by Dale Van Valkenburg, director of development
The Urban Land Institute provides leadership in the responsible use of land and in creating and sustaining thriving communities worldwide. This conference facilitated an open exchange of ideas, information, and experience among industry leaders and policy makers dedicated to creating better places.
2013 Congress for New Urbanism Conference, attended by Valerie Yost, marketing and communications manager
This conference is the leading venue for new urbanist networking, collaboration, and education. CNU members came from far and wide to discuss development practices and public policies, learn from recent innovative work, and advance new initiatives to transform communities.
2013 Urban Land Institute Place Making Conference, attended by Romy Mortensen, vice president of sales and marketing
Another important event put on by the Urban Land Institute, this conference focused on bringing experts together to discuss making mixed-use and transit-oriented development work. The conference sessions included practical examples of what is working in today’s economic climate, new research on demographic and financing trends, factors driving demand for new development, where and how new partners will be found and more.
