New Personal Fitness and Nutrition Program Now Available Through Vatterott College in Kansas City
Kansas City, Mo. (PRWEB) July 13, 2013 -- Vatterott College in Kansas City is adding a Personal Fitness Trainer Diploma program to its educational offerings. Students enrolled in this program will receive training through hands-on and one-on-one experience with instructors who are professional personal fitness trainers. The 50-week Personal Fitness Trainer Diploma program begins a new session every 10 weeks at the Vatterott College Kansas City campus, located across the highway from Worlds of Fun at 4131 N. Corrington Ave.
Students are trained to provide exercises, training sessions, assessments and tests for their potential clients. This program teaches careful and effectual fitness training, implementation of safe and effective weight loss/gain programs and proficiency in business-related skills. All students will have the opportunity to receive certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillators (AED), and graduates will be prepared to sit for the Certified Personal Trainer exam offered by the National Academy of Sports Medicine Association (NASM-CPT).
Students receive training not only in the gym but also in a classroom environment by studying anatomy and physiology, personal wellness, nutrition, and exercise psychology and physiology. Graduates will be able to pursue employment as personal trainers in gyms, fitness centers, private studios, corporate wellness programs or use the knowledge they have gained as a jumpstart towards opening their own personal fitness facilities.
“Personal fitness is a growing career field,” Molly Lester, Regional Director of Vatterott College. “According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of personal fitness trainers is expected to grow 24 percent over the decade from 2010 to 2020. More and more we see our students encouraging us to offer a program in the fitness field. With today’s obesity rates climbing, this is the perfect time to introduce this program to give our students the opportunity to make a difference in the quality of life of others.”
