New Wilmington, PA (PRWEB) July 16, 2013 -- On June 19th, The Bair Foundation celebrated Maudie Beatty, a foster parent for 25 years, at a local luncheon. Maudie Beatty has been a foster parent in New Wilmington since 1988, over the years she has fostered almost 200 children.
“This is not a job, it is a calling,” stated Maudie Beatty. “And it’s not going to make you rich or famous, then again…how do you put a price on getting to be an influence that may change a child’s life forever?”
The luncheon included a presentation of letters from Beatty’s former foster children. The Bair Foundation’s marketing department also created a video montage of photos of all the children that have been placed in Beatty’s home.
“Out of all our wonderful foster parents, Maudie has been with our organization the longest. You would think she would start to slow down after 25 years, but she is currently taking care of a sibling group of 4 and a teenage girl,” stated Dorie Alcaro, Marketing Director for The Bair Foundation.
Prior to becoming a foster parent of The Bair Foundation, Beatty worked for the Bill Rudge Ministry. She would open her home to homeless women and their children; many of these women were coming out of the prison system. She did this until Bill Bair approached her about taking in 2 difficult teenagers. After much thought and prayer, Beatty closed her home to women and began taking in foster teens.
“I felt I could better serve God by reaching youth before they ended up in jail,” stated Beatty.
