Growing Chapel Hill Primary Care Practice Welcomes Dr. Louise Metz
Chapel Hill, NC (PRWEB) July 14, 2013 -- Dr. Sarah Ro, Medical Director of Chapel Hill Primary Care in North Carolina, today welcomed Dr. Louise Metz to the practice. Dr. Metz comes with years of experience in primary care, hospital medicine, medical student and resident education, and brings a holistic, patient-centered approach to medical care.

Dr. Metz is a Board Certified Internal Medicine physician. She attended medical school at the University of North Carolina’s School of Medicine, and completed her residency at the University of California at San Francisco in Internal Medicine. She served on the faculty at both New York University School of Medicine and Duke University School of Medicine. She joins Chapel Hill Primary Care directly from an internal medicine practice where she provided primary care, management of chronic medical conditions and acute care, and held the position of Lab Director.
Specializing in women’s health, eating disorders, preventive care and chronic disease management, Dr. Metz practices evidence-based medicine with a focus on multidisciplinary care and coordination with other providers. She is a published author who has collaborated on articles for a variety of healthcare publications, including Progress in Cardiovascular Diseases, Journal of the American College of Cardiology and Diabetes Education.
Dr. Metz previously participated in research with the UCSF Department of Medicine’s Veteran Affairs Medical Center, Duke University’s VA Medical Center and its Department of Pharmacology. During her distinguished career, she has received several awards, including the Alpha Omega Alpha, academic honors and the Eugene S. Mayer Community Service Honor award from the University of North Carolina’s School of Medicine. As a Duke undergraduate, Dr. Metz also received the Thomas J. Watson Scholarship from Duke University.
Currently, Dr. Metz is a consulting associate with Duke University School of Medicine. She worked as a preceptor for internal medicine residents at the Duke Outpatient Clinic, a position she has held since 2008. Previously, she worked as clinical instructor and attending physician in the general medicine clinic and medicine inpatient wards at Bellevue Hospital for NYU’s department of medicine. In this role she supervised and taught residents and students on medicine inpatient services and provided direct primary care to patients from underserved and immigrant populations.
Dr. Metz holds a Doctor of Medicine from the University of North Carolina, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a Minor in Women’s Studies from Duke University, from which she graduated Cum Laude. She is Board certified as a Diplomate in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
