MulvannyG2 Architecture Presents the 11th Annual Swing for the Cure to Benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Puget Sound
Bellevue, WA (PRWEB) July 12, 2013 -- For the second straight year, MulvannyG2 Architecture and the LPGA Legends Tour, the official senior tour of the LPGA, are partnering to present the 11th annual Swing for the Cure golf tournament, which benefits Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Puget Sound. The one-round event will take place at Inglewood Country Club in Kenmore, Wash. on Sunday, July 28th. It is open to the public.
LPGA veteran Nancy Scranton, a five-time champion on The Legends Tour, will return to defend her title. A field of 30 Legends will compete for a $150,000 purse.
“I can’t wait to return,” said Scranton, who played on the LPGA Tour for more than 20 years and recorded three wins and a major championship. “In an 18-hole event, you have to focus because you have only one chance to play the holes and that makes each shot a little more important.”
Three LPGA and World Golf Hall of Famers are slated to appear, including Patty Sheehan, Pat Bradley, and JoAnne “Big Mama” Carner, a native of Kirkland, Wash. These three players have combined for 109 wins on the LPGA Tour, including 14 major championships. Sheehan and Bradley also have four wins between them on The Legends Tour.
“MulvannyG2 is honored to welcome back the LPGA Legends, and we are proud to partner with them again in supporting breast cancer awareness and research,” said MulvannyG2 CEO Mitch Smith. “To date, the Swing for the Cure tournament has raised $930,000 for Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Puget Sound. We look forward to adding to that total this year.”
Other notables in the field will include Rosie Jones, the 2011 U.S. Solheim Cup captain, a five-time Legends Tour winner and a 13-time LPGA Tour winner. In addition, Jane Blalock, Jan Stephenson, and Val Skinner will also appear.
Tee times will start at 10:30 a.m. Tickets are $20 for adults. Admission is free to kids 17 and under and all military personnel with ID. All ticket proceeds will support Susan G. Komen for the Cure Puget Sound.
No on-site parking will be available, but parking is free in nearby lots and complimentary shuttle service will be offered to the main gate of Inglewood Golf Club.
