TV Reality Weight Loss Shows Doing More Harm Than Good, Says Live Fit Docs Filmmaking Team
Ottawa, Ontario, Canada (PRWEB) July 16, 2013 -- Live Fit Docs, a start up film production company, today unveils a documentary project that will reveal insights into the most advanced methods for sustainable fat loss.
“Most people who sign up at a gym are way outside their comfort zone and reality TV shows are making them less inclined by promoting extreme fat loss methods,” says filmmaker Dave Baker of his campaign to raise funds for the project.
Baker entered into the fitness industry at a young age after undergoing a transformation that would see him lose over 60 lbs. Being fed up by the portrayal of the fitness industry presented by TV shows, Baker decided to take action and step behind the camera.
Today, he’s partnered with coach Elsbeth Vaino and the duo are dedicated to providing useable information through their documentary project that will follow Vaino and her trainees over 6 months.
“It seems that there’s a perspective that it’s all about extremes when it comes to weight loss,” says Vaino. “It gets a little frustrating.”
Vaino entered the male-dominated fitness industry after leaving a successful career as an engineer. Her approach couldn’t be further from what most envision her job to be. “What I like to do is be more positive and less in your face.”
Through a delicate balance that includes weight lifting, movement principles and individualized nutrition guidance, Vaino’s approach has garnered a great deal of respect among her peers who share her frustration.
That approach will be on full display in the film the duo hopes will change the public perception of the industry and give viewers insights into what it truly takes to lose weight, without the use of extreme exercises or crash diets.
More info about the project can be found at igg.me/at/livefitdocs where Vaino and Baker are hoping to receive support from members of the health community who are growing tired of reality TV’s extreme approaches scaring off gym-goers.
