Everest Academy Alumnus on Area Theater Circuit
Lemont, IL (PRWEB) July 16, 2013 -- Frankie Zabilka, son of Frank and Sue Zabilka of Lemont, and graduate of Everest Academy, is immersed in all things theatrical these summer days — an interest that sprouted from participating in the Fine Arts Program at Everest Academy.
Frankie is currently rehearsing to portray Pinocchio at the 99th Street Summer Theatre Festival’s production of Shrek, The Musical, which will be performed at Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School in Chicago on July 25th, 26th, and 27th. Patricia Haynes, founder and director of 99th Street Theater has known Frankie for years, and has watched him mature into the responsible, fun-loving young man he has become. “Frankie loves the theater and has grown into a mature performer over the years. He is getting a lot of great experience and he is a great role-model for our younger actors!” Frankie returned to his alma mater this spring to coach his younger brother Jack in Everest Academy’s performance of The Wizard of OZ.
Frankie received his first acting experience and directorial debut while attending Everest Academy in Lemont from kindergarten through 8th grade. At Everest, Frankie performed in annual winter and spring productions and had numerous public speaking opportunities. As a Middle School student at Everest, he directed the school’s Christmas production for three years. “We are grateful for all the opportunities that Everest provided for Frankie to develop his leadership and acting talents,” said Sue Zabilka.
Currently an incoming senior at Benet Academy and member of its Theater and Performing Arts Department, Frankie served as Assistant Director for the spring production of The Sound of Music. Frankie assisted the Fine Arts Chair, Mr. Brian Wand. The musical, which was performed over two weekends, sold out days before its final three performances.
Shortly after portraying Pinocchio this summer, Frankie will switch gears and sing and dance his way across the stage as Baby John in Oak Lawn Park District Theatre's West Side Story.
