Devisd Launches rdrct.it: Custom URL Service to Market Apps Across Multiple Platforms
PERTH, Australia (PRWEB) July 17, 2013 -- Devisd, a Perth-based app development company, today announced the beta launch of rdrct.it (pronounced 'redirect it'), a web service which helps mobile app developers market their apps more effectively across multiple operating systems by automatically redirecting prospective customers to the correct app-store of the device that they are using.
Simon Burbidge, CTO of Devisd, came up with the idea for rdrct.it when writing another app. "I wanted our users to be able to share content via a URL that would open the app directly, but this wouldn't have worked if the recipients didn't have the app installed. Either they’d get an error page or nothing would happen. I then came up with a way to send those potential users directly to the correct app store for their mobile device, and rdrct.it was born."
Mr. Burbidge says it was critical to make rdrct.it as simple as possible to use. "We’ve actually got two products. The Universal URL, which gives you just one URL for all the different OS versions of your app, is created in seconds, and can be used by any app developer or marketer who makes apps for different platforms. For those apps that go a step further and share content, we generate a Custom URL. So if a user of your app shares some content they’ve created with a friend who doesn’t have the app installed, that friend will now get redirected to whatever app store their handset requires. It keeps potential customers in the loop longer which means more downloads."
rdrct.it comes with statistics which track the URL links and will get more sophisticated in the weeks and months ahead, Mr Burbidge said. Currently in beta, app developers are able to use the full functionality, and can register for an account using their Facebook or Twitter login at http://www.rdrct.it.
