New York, New York (PRWEB) July 17, 2013 -- With October now being the most popular month to get married in many regions, floral designers have been working overtime to impress the bevy of brides-to-be with stunningly bold and elaborate new floral creations. Autumn brides and those who are catering to one of the many lovely ladies out there, be prepared to experience one of the most dramatic wedding seasons yet!
Renowned floral designer and someone who prides herself on staying on top of the latest trends in the industry, Alix Astir says, “This Fall, you will see plenty of spectacular floral designs with bold hues and dramatic elements.”
Astir, who is CEO of Trellis Fine Florals in New York City, gained a reputation for her unmatched style and dynamic work after studying under several artistic masters in the field, including Ina Garten of The Barefoot Contessa and master florists at Philip Balloon and Preston Baily. http://www.trellisfinefloralsnyc.com
For those who are looking for wedding flowers that reflect what are anticipated to be the hottest trends of the season or if you want to highlight the beauty of autumn in an unexpectedly chic and intriguing way, Astir offers these tips that are sure to impress even the savviest of brides:
Incorporate Textures
At the moment, “the hottest trend when it comes to fall wedding flowers is lush, richly hued arrangements with lots of interesting texture,” Astir says.
To achieve this look, avoid using just two or three types of blooms in a centerpiece. Instead, try a wide mix of flowers that go with the color scheme. For example, consider starting with a base of classic flowers and then add in some feathery crocosmia and velvety coxcomb. Alternatively, add non-floral accents, such as viburnum or hypericum berries, lotus pods, fiddlehead ferns, or wooly lamb's ear leaves to make the arrangements much more remarkable.
For a distinctly fall touch, poppies with dark centers add visual depth and a dramatic element that clearly announce the end of summer!
Emphasize Jewel Tones
“Another trend that is hot right now is capturing the boldness of the fall season by incorporating strikingly rich jewel tones,” Astir says, adding, “This includes classic autumn hues, like burgundy, rust, oranges, and browns. You can also opt for more designer shades, such as aubergine, copper, and forest green.”
Lush, elegant dahlias can be considered the quintessential fall blossom since they come in all the autumnal tones—red, burgundy, orange, and plum. Roses are a more traditional standby since they are available in any hue needed for a fall color scheme, such as brown (yes, brown roses!), orange, purple, and even green.
Another trend to be seen this season will be the use of antique hydrangeas in greens and purples, as well as deep crimson calla lilies. Match them with coffee break roses and a gorgeous Victorian-themed, sepia-tinted wedding is created, that exemplifies both class and elegance. http://www.trellisfinefloralsnyc.com
Go for the Tailored and Polished Bouquets
Loosely tied bouquets that look like they were just gathered from an English garden are a natural choice for many brides during the spring and summer. However, when it comes to fall weddings, bouquets can be more structured. By this, Astir says, “Think densely packed, dome-shaped bouquets in a red, brick, or plum color scheme.”
Instead of leaving stems exposed, trend-conscious florists will wrap them in textured fabric, velvet sashes, or ribbons. The groomsmen’s boutonnieres can be similarly polished and instead of having a bare stem, choose boutonnieres with satin or grosgrain ribbon for the wedding party.
Use Plants as Reception Centerpieces
Succulents are a hugely popular landscaping trend right now, and stylish brides are working them into their centerpieces too. “They're season-less but come in deep, fall-appropriate hues, such as aubergine, cactus green, and pomegranate,” Astir says, adding, “Since their leaves look like petals, succulents mix easily with flowers, and they're a natural choice for weddings in the Southwest.” http://www.trellisfinefloralsnyc.com
Bypass Tired Glass Vases
For centerpieces, unique containers are de rigueur. Classic glass vases may feel like the right way to go during the summer, but anything goes for Fall! Style-conscious couples are using everything from eye-catching copper pots to silver trophy cups and gold-leaf vases to make their wedding ceremony unique. Some couples have even gone with earthy containers made of wood or covered in lichen to make for a distinct look.
Mismatched antique urns or pots from the flea market are also popular these days. “Use a collection of pots in different sizes and put out as many as five per table so your guests can take them home at the end of the evening,” Astir suggests.
If you do, however, decide to go with traditional glass vases, you can still add a fall touch by using wheat berries or millet as a base for the flowers.
Go Green
Eco-conscious couples and their florists are also focusing on using locally grown organic flowers. As an eco-friendly wedding tip, consider using flowers grown near the wedding site versus flying flowers in from another region since it lessens your environmental impact. Organically grown blooms also spare the earth (and your guests) from exposure to potentially harmful chemicals. “Overall, it's a great way to support nearby nurseries and celebrate the local region,” Astir says.
