New Graphic Novel, ‘Head Smash,’ to Be Released July 31
New York, NY (PRWEB) July 16, 2013 -- Filmmaker Vlad Yudin’s edgy graphic novel, “Head Smash,” is set to be released July 31.
The story, which is scheduled to be made into a feature film next year, follows the protagonist Smash, who as a child must routinely fight teams of bullies at the orphanage where he lives. He grows up in the city of Ares, where the government is corrupt and ineffectual. The city is ultimately ruled by lawless gangs, who control the streets through violence and drugs. The most powerful of these is The Horde, whose leader, Maurice, adopts Smash. By now, the boy has earned a ferocious reputation to survive with dignity, and in Smash, The Horde gains a valuable, fiercely loyal warrior.
“‘Head Smash’ has already gotten attention as an edgy graphic novel having been previewed at Comic Con and other events throughout the country this summer,” says Yudin, a Russian-born media entrepreneur currently juggling multiple projects.

The story unfolds with elements of sci-fi, horror and action as Smash struggles to maintain his loyalty to the organization after falling in love with the beautiful Leyla, who becomes pregnant with Smash’s child. This triggers a conflict in Smash’s life that challenges his assumptions about himself and others, which ultimately alters the fate of Ares.

Russian-born writer, director, producer Vlad Yudin is the principal of The Vladar Co., a media and entertainment production company. New projects include the ARCANA Comics graphic novel and film “Head Smash,” and the bodybuilding docudrama “Generation Iron,” a remake of the 1977 hit “Pumping Iron.” Additionally, he is currently working with “Game of Thrones” producer Mark Huffam in adapting into film the historical fiction novel “The French Executioner,” the story of the greatest executioner in all of Europe, Jean Rombeaud. Yudin is developing the graphic novel “Head Smash,” which is led by Sean O’Reilly, publisher of “Cowboys and Aliens.” The sci-fi thriller centers on an orphan named Smash who finds a safe haven with a brutal syndicate, The Horde. Yudin is best known for directing and producing the docufilm “Big Pun: The Legacy” (2008), a critically acclaimed biopic about legendary rapper Christopher Lee Rios, and “Last Day of Summer,” which he wrote, directed and produced.
