Dr. Kecia Ray Assumes Presidency of ISTE Board of Directors
Washington, DC (PRWEB) July 17, 2013 -- The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE®) today announced its 2013-14 board officers. At the ISTE 2013 conference and expo in late June, Kecia Ray, Ed.D., took the helm of the board as president. Ray is the Executive Director of Learning Technologies and Library Services at the Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools.
“It is such a high honor for me as a district administrator to represent the ed tech community in this manner,” said Dr. Ray. “I am privileged to serve with some of the most talented people in our field.”
The 16-member board elected Paige Johnson, Education Strategist at Intel Corporation as treasurer and Mike Lawrence, Executive Director of Computer Using Educators, Inc. (CUE) as secretary. ISTE’s past president is Holly Jobe, education consultant from Flourtown, Pa.
In addition, five new and two re-elected members joined ISTE’s continuing board members to lead the premier membership association for educators committed to empowering connected learning in a connected world. Newly elected to the board earlier this spring were Mila Fuller, Deputy Executive Director, National Council of Teachers of English, Urbana, Ill.; Matt Harris, Ed.D., Head of Learning Resources, German European School Singapore; Sheryl Nussbaum-Beach, CEO, Powerful Learning Practice, Virginia Beach, Va.; Mia Williams, Ph.D., Associate Professor, University of Northern Colorado, Greeley; and Janet Zanetis, National Education Advocate, CISCO Systems, Pyrmont, New South Wales, Australia.
Re-elected to the ISTE board were John Keller, Ph.D., Director of Instructional Technology and eLearning, Metropolitan School District of Warren Township, Indianapolis, Ind.; and Kari Stubbs, Ph.D., Vice President, Learning and Innovation, BrainPOP, New York, N.Y.
In addition to Ray, Jobe, Johnson, and Lawrence, the nine continuing board members include Arlene Borthwick, Ph.D., Associate Dean and Professor, National College of Education at National Louis University, Palatine, Ill.; Laurie Conzemius, Media Specialist, ISD 748, Sauk Rapids, Minn.; Betsy Goeltz, Ed.D., Principal, Pocatello School District, Idaho; Gwyneth Anne Jones, Teacher Librarian and Technology Specialist, Murray Hill Middle School, Columbia, Md.; and Kathy Schrock, Educational Technologist, kackl!, Eastham, Mass.
