Classic Metal Roofs Contracted to Replace Metal Shingle Roof in MA After Car Comes Through the Roof
South Hadley, MA (PRWEB) July 24, 2013 -- Classic Metal Roofs, LLC, one of New England’s most respected residential metal roofing contractors, announces they were contracted to install a new metal roof on a Massachusetts home after a horrific and freak accident involving a car crashing through the roof of a homeowner’s garage. South Hadley, Massachusetts longtime residents, Mike and Cheryl, were in for quite a surprise as they were preparing dinner one night this spring. “We were in the kitchen getting dinner when all of a sudden it was like a bomb exploded in the garage,” says Mike. “We ran out of the house to see what happened. To our disbelief, a car came through the metal roof of our garage.”
It could only happen in the movies. Well it happened right here in Massachusetts. As it turned out, the unidentified man driving was killed at the scene, as his car flew through the air after reaching speeds of over 110 mph and landing in the garage. Upon impact, the engine of the car separated and flew over 75 feet into the backyard destroying the swimming pool. Parts of the car were later found in seven of the neighbors’ yards. The car came to rest in the garage on top of the car that was parked there.
In the aftermath of the accident and the massive cleanup, the garage and attached breezeway needed to be demolished and rebuilt. Upon impact, the car’s battery was torn apart. Battery acid went everywhere, including the metal roofing shingles that were on the house. According to the estimates, about 20 percent of the metal roof was damaged due to battery acid. The homeowners contacted the metal roof company that sold them the roof and had them evaluate it. They came back to the homeowners telling them that the roof was a total loss.
The homeowner wanted to just replace the damaged shingles. The company said no and that the ‘lifetime warranty’ was now invalid. Mike and Cheryl were very disappointed. They had the company give them a new quote and estimate to replace the damaged roof with a new one. Much to their surprise, the estimate came in at about 40 percent higher than the original installation just 6 years earlier. “It was like pulling teeth to get them to respond; their customer service is non-existent,” states Mike, a retired state employee who worked for the state of MA and has years of experience working with contractors.
Mike and Cheryl decided to find another metal roofing contractor in MA, so they did an internet search. They eventually found Classic Metal Roofs, LLC out of Stow, MA to do the project. The couple had them give them an estimate. They checked the references and read the online independent reviews and made their decision. The price was very competitive, just slightly more than what they had originally paid for the roof six years earlier and Classic offered a wider range of products that are much more attractive than the original roof. They chose the Oxford ‘Slate’Aluminum Shingle. Classic has just introduced a new color called ‘Vermont Slate,’ which went well with the new siding color. “It all turned out well; they are very professional,” said Mike.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to be able to step in and help this couple out,” states Mike Gonet, senior partner of Classic Metal Roofs, LLC. “The whole ordeal was very stressful for Mike and Cheryl. We were able to adjust our schedule and get our crew out there to get their new metal ‘slate’ shingle roof installed. The new color is beautiful; it looks like Vermont slate, as the color indicates.”
