The Methodist Retirement Communities Foundation Will Sponsor a Series of Seminars Highlighting Retirement Industry Expert Advice
(PRWEB) July 18, 2013 -- A seminar offered by the Methodist Retirement Communities Foundation is designed to provide financial information on tax strategies, building your nest egg, and planning for retirement years. It will be held at Cornerstone, an MRC Healthy Living Community, located at 4100 Moores Road on Thursday, July 25, at 6:30 p.m. Entitled, “Increasing Your Wealth, Decreasing Your Taxes and Leaving a Legacy,” the seminar is the first in a planned series of seminars geared for those seeking to ensure that both current earnings and savings for the future will meet the goals of retirement.
The first seminar in this quarterly series will feature Dustin Stringer, Stringer Wealth Management, LLC on the topics of surveying, protecting and growing your wealth during retirement. The second seminar scheduled for October will feature a panel of experts who will address making the most of social security, veterans benefits, charitable giving, estate planning and more.
The seminar is a public service effort aimed at raising awareness among working adults of the need to plan for retirement, and the earlier the better. A quarterly survey released June 8 by Charles Schwab found that almost four in 10 Americans (39 percent) are not currently saving for retirement and six in 10 Americans have not adjusted their thinking and planning regarding the age they will retire. Further, a closer look shows a gap exists between planning and reality. Fifty-one percent of 55 to 63 year olds have saved less than $500,000, while at the same time this group commonly states the need for $2 million to live comfortably in retirement.
“Our goal is to provide a series of quarterly seminars to help people determine how to craft a retirement plan and achieve their retirement goals,” said Anne Davis, vice president for philanthropy, Methodist Retirement Communities Foundation.
