The Stevie Award encompasses a variety of business categories including management, corporate communications, sales, public relations, human resources, information technology, product management and marketing.
NetCom Learning’s Love of Learning video is the inspirational story of how the company is promoting education and lifelong learning through its nationwide learning movement, the Sarder Scholarship program, and the new Love of Learning program which partners with BRAC USA to bring schooling to children in disadvantaged communities around the world. In the video, Russell Sarder, CEO of NetCom Learning and the driving force behind the company’s evangelistic push to promote learning and education, talks about how promoting lifelong learning is not just a marketing slogan but is part of the company’s DNA and the fundamental reason for the company’s existence. In the video, NetCom Learning staff and teachers add their voices and thoughts on why lifelong learning is important.
"To be recognized for our social philanthropic effort to promote learning in our video 'Love of Learning' by the American Business Awards is a true honor. It is recognition that what we are doing has purpose and meaning," said Russell Sarder, CEO of NetCom Learning and educational activist.
Love of Learning
The Love of Learning program is all about helping children to further their education, a goal which is close to the heart of the company’s CEO Russell Sarder. A passion for learning has dominated his life which began in the poor country of Bangladesh where Sarder’s parents instilled in him a desire to excel at school and at learning. Love of Learning was developed in 2013 in partnership with BRAC USA, a nonprofit international development organization that has helped more than 126 million individuals in more than eleven countries grow businesses and empower themselves. This recent initiative is geared at providing primary level education to students in disadvantaged countries. The program is one of the ways NetCom Learning gives back to the community and is a central part of the company's purpose to promote lifelong learning. The funding for the educational program comes from NetCom Learning donations based on the number of prepaid class registrations. Since the inception of this program, NetCom Learning has already helped sponsor hundreds of children's education. This year, the Love of Learning Program is in the process of opening thirty preprimary schools around the world.
Learning Movement
The Learning Movement and NetCom Learning's commitment to promote lifelong learning originates with Russell Sarder, the company's CEO. His passion for learning dominates his life and is at the center of his career as CEO. He is from Bangladesh, one of the poorest countries in the world, yet where all parents expect their children to excel in school. His love of learning was instilled in him at a young age. When he arrived in the United States, he had little more than a few books and a couple of suitcases. He stayed committed to his education, and has been able to create growing multimillion dollar business where he gets to pass on his love of learning to others. Another integral part of the learning movement is a series of short videos called "Learning Is..." where nearly a hundred people has shared what has inspired them in their lives, what learning has means to them and why the concept of lifelong learning is so important to individuals and to the future of our world. Some of the interviewees include: Dan Hoffman, former CEO of M5 Networks, Inc.; Russell Stevens, former partner of SS+K which developed the Livestrong Campaign and Obama's 2008 advertising strategies; co-author of best-selling "Green to Gold", Andrew Winston; Kaplan College former President, Bill Rosenthal; former CLO of Merrill Lynch, Roseanna DeMaria, author of "BrandingPays", Karen Kang; and Susan Davis CEO of BRAC USA.
The Sarder Scholarship Program
Since 2009, the Sarder Scholarship Program awards $2,500 scholarships to worthy individuals on a monthly basis. The program is open to individuals from any background or skill level. The scholarship can be used toward any NetCom Learning course.
