Alliance for Children Foundation Holds Benefit Concert Headlined by 5 Time Boston Folk Artist of the Year/Nashville Hit Writer Lori McKenna to Benefit Orphans in Haiti
Boston, MA (PRWEB) July 17, 2013 -- The Performer
"If Massachusetts were a book and its songs were chapters, then together they would tell the story of a life." Lori McKenna, 5-time Folk Artist of the Year (Boston Music Awards), recently released her sixth studio album, Massachusetts, to high critical acclaim. Her unique way of articulating the love, pain and pathos of life has attracted some of the most dynamic artists to record her works, including Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood, Alison Krauss, Keith Urban and Lee Ann Rimes.
The Cause
The Alliance for Children Foundation, based in Needham, MA, provides resources and care for orphaned and at-risk children in seven countries worldwide.
This summer’s benefit concert will directly benefit the Foundation’s work in Kenscoff, Haiti - where they recently worked with local partners to build a new group home for fifty children previously made homeless by the earthquake of 2010. The Foundation is now constructing a Community Center, equipped with a medical clinic and computer lab to enhance educational and vocational goals for the children and the broader community, as well as a separate home for orphaned infants. The goal of developing a strong, sustainable community for the children in Kenscoff will lead the Foundation to expand this holistic approach to empower orphaned children in other countries worldwide.
