Samsung Selects ALTIBASE HDB™ for Samsung Apps Store’s User Authentication System on Amazon AWS EC2 Cloud
Greater New York City (PRWEB) July 15, 2013 -- Samsung Apps (i.e. iTunes, Google Play Store) ran on Oracle Coherence prior to its adoption of ALTIBASE HDB™. Samsung required stable, uninterrupted service for the growing popularity of its Galaxy smartphone series as well as its other marquis products. Oracle Coherence did not provide continuous stability and this undermined Samsung’s service. The Oracle Coherence based backend failed, causing Samsung’s global authentication service to stop for several hours.
Further, Samsung could not recover critical data after the Oracle Coherence crash because of irretrievable data loss.
Samsung chose ALTIBASE HDB™ on the Amazon EC2 AWS Cloud platform to provide a high performance, reliable and robust global authentication service for its fast-growing number of App users. In addition to Samsung’s high performance (Hot Data) needs, it needed a solution for storing large historical data (Cold Data).
Samsung Apps needed to run without interruption and with real-time speed while possessing the capacity for an abundance of storage and the ability to easily scale-out.
