The board-certified bariatric surgeons at La Peer Health Systems in Beverly Hills will speak about weight loss surgery on Saturday, July 20, 2013.

We plan to educate potential patients on the facts regarding surgical weight loss.

Bariatric surgeons, Amir Mehran, MD, FACS, FASMBS and Samuel Kashani, MD, will be speaking at a seminar conducted at the Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence, a department of La Peer Health Systems in Beverly Hills. The seminar will take place on Saturday, July 20, 2013, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., during which our board-certified bariatric surgeons will discuss the different surgical weight loss options, as well as answer any questions attendees might have. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged. To RSVP, please call 888.391.0182.

“We plan to educate potential patients on the facts regarding surgical weight loss,” said Dr. Amir Mehran, Medical Director of the Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence. “It is important for people to understand the risks associated with obesity, and learn if bariatric surgery is a beneficial option for them.”

Procedures discussed will include gastric sleeve surgery, lap band and gastric bypass. The best candidates for bariatric surgery are those with a BMI of 35 or over, although patients with lower BMIs may be considered if they have a higher risk for (or already have) an obesity-related disease. Patients interested in learning if they are a candidate for one of the surgical weight loss procedures can schedule a one-on-one consultation with a world-renowned bariatric surgeon at La Peer Health Systems.

“Bariatric surgery is a hot topic, but there are many false advertisements and claims out there,” said Dr. Samuel Kashani. “Dr. Mehran and I are thrilled for this unique opportunity to divulge the truth and facts about surgical weight loss, and help patients decide if this course of treatment is right for them.”

Attendance for the seminar is free, but as seating is limited, attendees are encouraged to call prior to the event and reserve seats. For the seminar location, parking and other information, please visit our bariatric surgery event page.
