Transparent Canvases of Ingrid Dee Magidson and Book Signing at the Forré Gallery in Aspen, CO
Aspen, CO (PRWEB) July 18, 2013 -- Artist, Ingrid Dee Magidson unveils her unique transparent canvases at her solo art exhibition at the Forré Gallery in Aspen, CO, August 3rd. Her new book, Madness of the Muses - the Art of Ingrid Dee Magidson, will also be released at the reception. Magidson will be at the reception to speak with collectors and sign her new book.
Magidson is well known for her transparent canvases, which are a unique mix of renaissance images, industrial materials, antique objects and butterflies. Each is layered so that the viewer sees into and through the images to the objects and layers below. The result is art that is dimensional, contemporary and classical all at the same time.
One collector describes Magidson's work this way: “It is as if the artist has compressed 500 years into a single work of art. These few fragile layers of clear acrylic, paint, antique objects and butterflies are arranged in such a way that I can see into the very depths of a stranger’s soul. I begin to pull away, but I can’t stop looking.”
Magidson's new book, Madness of the Muses - the Art of Ingrid Dee Magidson will be released at the Forré Gallery reception August 3rd. The book is an in-depth overview of Magidson’s career from 2006 to 2013, including a complete catalogue of all her work to date. Introduction by Contemporary American and Russian art collector, Bradley E. Place, Jr. and critical essays from Professional Artist Magazine, The Aspen Times and others.
