The North America Office of Duesseldorf Tourism and Duesseldorf Airport Announces: Farbenfroh – A Joyful Collection of 60 Years of Modern Colorful Graphic Prints on Exhibit
Düsseldorf, Germany (PRWEB) July 18, 2013 -- The notion that one purpose of art is to inspire joy is taken literally in an upcoming exhibit at Düsseldorf’s Museum Kunstpalast. “Farbenfroh” (July 26 – October 27, 2013) is a showcase of 70 graphic prints by international artists from the last six decades with one thing in common: their colorful compositions warm the viewer’s heart.
The pieces are from a collection by collectors Ms. and Mr. Kemp. It was recently donated to the museum and contains about 1,000 graphic prints, both representational and abstract, which the couple began collecting in the 1950s.
Most pieces were created in the 50s and 60s, a time of post-war bleakness, when bright light colors helped create an air of optimism and new beginnings. The earliest piece, a print from 1949 by Werner Heldt, shows a row of houses in Berlin. Other realist artists included are Fernand Leger, Valerio Adami and Martial Raysse. Abstract artists include Josef Albers, Winfred Gaul, Rupprecht Geiger and Ellsworth Kelly.
Creating an exhibit of intense color and warmth at its core is the museum’s way of expressing their gratitude for the donation and including the museum’s visitors in the pleasure.
