Respected San Diego Dermatologist Performing Clinical Study of Hair Stimulating Complex and Follicular Holding Solution
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) July 18, 2013 -- With recent developments from Southern California company Histogen, Inc. in the area of hair transplant research, Richard E. Fitzpatrick of San Diego’s Cosmetic Laser Dermatology will be performing clinical studies of the company’s innovative formulations Hair Stimulating Complex (HSC) and Follicular Holding Solution (FHS). He is working with the developer of the product, Dr. Gail Naughton on these studies.
“We are excited about the opportunity to study these formulations closely and work on finding the best hair restoration treatments available. I really feel that HSC and FHS are going to give us the ability to provide our hair loss patients with superior results,” said Dr. Fitzpatrick about his clinical study.
The bioengineered formulation HSC is thought to trigger stem cell activity in the patient to produce new hair follicles as well as stimulate the growth of existing ones. Past studies have already indicated its safety and efficiency in stimulating hair growth in patients over a 6-month period. A variation of the HSC formulation, FHS, is indicated for use in storing hair follicles that have been prepared for transplant. Large studies of FHS have shown less scarring, better follicular survival, and faster healing time in patients who had a follicular unit hair transplant that utilized the formulation.
“The results of the studies that have already been performed are promising. Dr. Naughton and I hope to add to those encouraging results with our own clinical studies in an effort to find the best possible way to put these formulations to use to see better hair growth and density in our own patients,” responded Dr. Fitzpatrick, San Diego dermatologist.
At Cosmetic Laser Dermatology in San Diego, Dr. Fitzpatrick currently performs hair restoration and transplantation procedures using the minimally invasive NeoGraft treatment. This treatment, with no incisions or sutures necessary, has proven to be effective in hair restoration for San Diego men and women.
“Being able to combine the hair restoration techniques we already use with Histogen’s stem cell formulations to improve the rate of growth and the health of the transplanted hair is a great step forward in the field of hair transplantation,” Dr. Fitzpatrick commented.
