Tradition Meets Modern Lifestyle in Small Home by Jeff King & Company, General Contractor in San Francisco
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) July 31, 2013 -- Award winning general contractor in San Francisco Jeff King & Company announces its newest home renovation in the Presidio Heights neighborhood. In a compact city residence, Jeff King & Company created distinct spaces to meet all the needs of formal and informal living. This is the company’s most traditional project to date and every room is built to serve a unique lifestyle need for the modern woman.
Collaborating with architect Robert Frear and interior designer Tim Kennedy, Jeff King & Company renovated 100% of the two-story home including the kitchen, garage, exterior and infrastructure. Green upgrades are seen in the new high efficiency heat and hot water delivery, green insulation and high reflectivity roofing. Two and a half baths and three bedrooms were completely remodeled, as well as the garden hardscape designed by Strata Landscape Architecture.
“Each space is built with a specific intention,” explains Jeff King, Founder and Principal at Jeff King & Company. “Walking from room to room, you feel as if you are moving through the life of the house.”
In the lower garden, plants and water surround a cozy reading area. Up a few steps is the more formal patio, highlighted by a blue stone curved bench, that leads directly into the family room designed for casual entertaining. Flowing into the dining and living rooms, a complexity of design and richness of décor is conveyed in the custom molding, cabinetry and furnishings.
“For entertaining, we enhanced the flow from the front of the house to the back and out into the garden,” says architect Robert Frear. “The kitchen becomes a central feature of the first floor.”
Highly functional and ergonomic for gourmet cooking, the kitchen is outfitted with custom anigre cabinetry, a CornuFé range and custom manufactured range hood. In contrast to the elegant white marble countertops and backsplash is a Grigio Carnico marble island. One can dine in the kitchen or move to the breakfast nook overlooking the garden to enjoy a casual meal.
“On just one level, you have all the aspects of how one might want to live in relatively concise areas,” comments King. “Each area has a distinct functionality while working together to create a nice package of modern urban living.”
Throughout the entire home, custom cabinetry and finishes were installed to add maximum convenience and functionality to the living space. An avid cook, the homeowner needed dual pullout pantries and built-in spice drawers in the kitchen. Jeff King & Company also built a linen closet for hang-drying delicate wardrobe items next to a cabinet-enclosed washing machine and clothes dryer.
The master bedroom is complete with a dedicated shoe closet, walk-in closet for clothes and jewelry, and pearl matte glass tile bathroom. Calacatta marble on the master vanity, floor and shower echoes the kitchen’s sophistication and use of durable material.
In a modestly sized urban home, this general contractor in San Francisco has created a highly functioning space for casual living and formal entertaining.
“Just because San Francisco homes are not always awarded the luxury of ample square footage, that doesn’t mean they can’t offer a luxurious lifestyle,” notes King. “Thoughtful design and custom solutions are all it takes for a small space to meet the needs of fine contemporary living.”
