LIVE Twitter Chat Featuring Next-Generation Sequencing Expert from The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia
Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) July 19, 2013 -- WHAT: The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia has partnered with ARUP Laboratories to host a live Twitter chat discussing the latest news and clinical developments regarding the use of next-generation genome sequencing to enhance diagnostic evaluation of genetic disorders. The chat, coined #LabChatter, will feature Avni Santani, PhD, scientific director of the Molecular Genetics Lab at CHOP. Judy O’Rourke, editor of CLP magazine and Monica Heger, reporter from GenomeWeb will moderate the event.

About Dr. Avni Santani
Avni Santani, PhD, has over seven years of experience in molecular diagnostic testing. She obtained her PhD at Texas A&M University and her clinical laboratory training in genetics at The Children’s hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Santani holds specialty board certifications in Clinical Molecular Genetics and Clinical Cytogenetics. Her primary focus is on new test development and adoption of next generation sequencing technologies for diagnostic testing. Dr. Santani has experience in developing diagnostic tests for over 100 disease genes implicated in disorders such as hearing loss, epilepsy, Noonan syndrome, Rett syndrome, paraganglioma, neuroblastoma and others. Her training and experience make her an expert in a wide variety of genetic disorders, molecular biology applications and genomics.
