We all scream for ice cream; Thrill seekers enjoy heat wave at Lightwater Valley
(PRWEB UK) 20 July 2013 -- Thrill seekers at Yorkshire’s Lightwater Valley theme park have been cooling down in traditional Great British style this weekend, as the park reports a record breaking weekend for ice cream sales.
As Britain basked in temperatures as high as 30C, the park has enjoyed a busy weekend, with over 7000 visitors through the doors. But it’s the ice cream figures that are really tasty: a total number of 5000 ice creams devoured over the weekend, that’s a 60% rise on the same weekend last year.
Ashley Young, Head of Marketing at Lightwater Valley, said:
“It’s no secret that the British public love an ice cream, but to eat one on a rollercoaster is just hardcore. I’m really impressed by our visitors’ dedication.* Also, we work with local suppliers such as Brymor Ice cream, based in the Yorkshire Dales, which does definitely make our ice cream offer a bit out of the ordinary.”
Since opening to the public on 25 May, Lightwater Valley’s new Angry Birds Activity Park has had over 30,000 visitors through the door. As only the second Angry Birds Activity Park to open in the UK, the site includes 25ft high nesting towers, pig tunnels, climbing walls, slides and interactive dance games.
The park is now offering a £40 Summer Pass – giving visitors access to the park for the whole summer for just £40. Valid from 21 July – 1 September and offering unlimited access to all rides, including the new Angry Birds Activity Park, Lightwater Valley Falconry and Eagles’ Creek Farm, please call 0871 720 0011 to book.
