With the hot weather currently being experienced in the UK, demand for water has risen significantly.

According to the Telegraph on July 17 the water companies Severn Trent, Affinity, South East and Yorkshire have warned their customers to reduce the amount of water they use and use water wisely.
With the hot weather currently being experienced in the UK, demand for water has risen significantly. Supplying water to nine million homes, Thames Water has seen demand increase by up to 50% from 2.6 billion litres of water a day to three billion.
Affinity Water, who supplies water to 3.5 million homes throughout North London and the Home Counties, released a statement informing customers of problems with water pressure due to the increased demand. They added: “Whilst our water resources are fine, we would ask our customers to continue to use water wisely.”
The specialists at We Fix Now, who are well-known for their Sutton plumbers, keep up to date with news stories in the industry and have offered advice to those looking to conserve water:
“With the hot weather it’s tempting to use high volumes of water, but it is important to use water wisely and save unnecessary water wastage. Turning the tap off when brushing your teeth, only boiling water you need when using the kettle and taking short showers instead of baths are all good ways of saving water. Another tip is to look for leaking taps or pipes in your homes. Significant amounts of water can be wasted through leaks, so if you think you have a leak in your home, contact a qualified plumber immediately.”
