CD-adapco Brings Virtual Testing Capabilities to USA Luge
New York (PRWEB) July 18, 2013 -- CD-adapco, the largest privately held CFD focused provider of Computer Aided Engineering software and services, today announced a partnership with USA Luge. The company will be providing guidance and technical assistance to USA Luge in an effort to increase aerodynamic efficiency of the team's sleds and racers.
CD-adapco will significantly augment the existing technical support being provided to USA Luge by Indianapolis-based IndyCar team Panther Racing. Panther Racing, one of the top teams on the Izod IndyCar circuit, began its support of USA Luge in the fall of 2012, thanks to an introduction made by the National Guard, a sponsor of both teams.
The agreement will provide the Panther Racing engineering team with the tools, specifically, CD-adapco’s STAR-CCM+, to run external aerodynamic simulations for USA Luge's sleds and athletes. The results of the simulations will provide engineers with an improved understanding of how lift and drag affect the sled and athlete, with the eventual goal of improving sled design and efficiency.
