Smart Destinations Orlando Partner Kennedy Space Center Opens “Space Shuttle Atlantis”
Boston, MA (PRWEB) July 18, 2013 -- Travelers to Central Florida flock to Orlando for a number of reasons: theme parks like SeaWorld, wildlife sanctuaries known for their iconic gator inhabitants, and the one-of-a-kind cultural institution, the Kennedy Space Center. Beginning this summer, Smart Destinations visitors with astronaut dreams can enjoy a brand new experience at the prestigious Kennedy Space Center – the Space Shuttle Atlantis Exhibit.
The Space Shuttle Atlantis Exhibit is a 90,000-square-foot hall dedicated to the magnificent story of NASA’s Space Shuttle Program, from Project Mercury to the International Space Station. Some highlighted features of the Atlantis exhibit include state-of-the-art multimedia presentations, replica shuttles and rockets, and more than 60 interactive exhibits and simulations. The heart of the exhibit, however, is the Space Shuttle Atlantis itself, suspended 30 feet off the ground and positioned as if though it were in orbit, allowing visitors to imagine Atlantis as she once flew through space.
“The Kennedy Space Center is one of the most important institutions in the history of American science,” said Keith Fogarty, Regional Director of Orlando with Smart Destinations. “The new Space Shuttle Atlantis Exhibit will enhance our customers’ vacation experience with its diversity of materials, artifacts, and interactive displays.”
The Kennedy Space Center has been a popular Orlando attraction partner with Smart Destinations for several years, and draws a consistently high volume of visitors to its excellent Visitor Complex. Admission to the Space Shuttle Atlantis Exhibit is available with both the Go Orlando Card and the Go Select Orlando Pass, giving Smart Destinations customers two options to save on this incredible experience.
In addition to the impressive contents of the Space Shuttle Atlantis Exhibit, Smart Destinations customers will also enjoy further highlights of the Center, including the fan favorite Shuttle Launch Experience, a number of IMAX 3-D films, and the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame. Children and adults alike will enjoy the recently added Angry Birds Space Encounter, which utilizes pop culture to teach children about the physics and mechanics of space travel.
