ProExam Selected to Create Digital Credentials Internationally for EDC
NEW YORK, NY (PRWEB) July 23, 2013 -- Professional Examination Service (ProExam), the most experienced organization in professional licensure and certification services, today announced that it will develop a work readiness assessment and related digital credentials for Education Development Center (EDC), initially in three countries.
EDC, a global non-profit that conducts 250 projects in 30 countries, focuses on challenges in education, health and economic development. Among its innovative programs is Work Ready Now!, a work readiness framework, curriculum and implementation toolkit first created in 2008 and now in use by youth programs in nine countries. The program has trained approximately 50,000 youth to date.
Professional Examination Service will develop a valid, reliable assessment system for Work Ready Now!. The system will include internet-based testing and be able to issue digital micro-credentials, displayed as industry-standard open badges, to youth who demonstrate they have achieved the program’s learning objectives. The assessment will first be delivered in Rwanda, Guyana and Macedonia.
Among the technologies brought to bear will be ProExam Vault, the secure, web-based platform for issuing, sharing and storing digital credentials and micro-credentials. Since ProExam Vault conforms to the Mozilla Foundation’s Open Badge Infrastructure technical standard, the credentials issued are displayed as digital badges that are easily shared with and verified by employers.
“Work Ready Now! is designed to prepare youth with skills that make them marketable job candidates for local employers,” said Nancy Taggart, EDC Senior Technical Advisor. “Our new credentialing system will give our graduates another tool for success.”
“We’re excited and honored to work with EDC on this important project,” said Robert S. Block, president and CEO of Professional Examination Service. “Digital credentials and micro-credentials displayed as open badges are rapidly gaining traction as a portable and effective mechanism for job candidates to represent their accomplishments, knowledge and skills, and are even more valuable when tied to an assessment.”
ProExam will work with EDC on requirements to earn the digital micro-credential, related assessments, and the contents and design of the displayed digital badge. Completion is scheduled for later in 2013.
