Christians for Biblical Equality to Hold International Conference in Pittsburgh, PA
Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) July 19, 2013 -- Christians for Biblical Equality (CBE) will assess the importance of creating a balanced, biblical worldview that fosters justice and empowers all individuals based upon their giftedness rather than their gender in an international conference, 'Take Every Thought Captive to Christ: Ideas Have Consequences.' The conference will be held in Pittsburgh, PA, USA on July 26-28, 2013. This conference marks CBE’s 23rd international conference in the last 24 years.
'Take Every Thought Captive to Christ' will feature 5 general sessions, 16 workshops, and a cascading presentation comprised of 6 presenters. CBE is proud to host a variety of speakers who are experts in theology, biblical studies, counseling, NGO, education, and more. Experts include Mimi Haddad, J. Lee Grady, Fatuma Hashi, J.R. Daniel Kirk, and Cynthia Long Westfall.
Each session will explore how patriarchal interpretations of Scripture foster gender injustice and limit the gifts given to each individual. In addition to general and workshop speakers, CBE is proud to host prominent humanitarians, leaders, and teachers from around the world who will lead worship, prayer, and other events throughout the weekend.
Presentation styles will range from artistic presentations, to academic biblical studies, to analysis of the influence of gender in contemporary church and practice. “The diversity of approaches offered by our speakers emphasizes the universal appeal of this conference’s message,” said Kyle Sommer, the coordinator for the conference. He went on to say, “…understanding the foundations of our ideas and practices with regard to gender is central if we are to address the problems facing the church.”
'Take Every Thought Captive to Christ' is open to all who wish to attend. CBE members will receive the benefit of a discount on registration price. “This conference is a wonderful opportunity for those who have long supported CBE, those who are new supporters, and those who are merely interested in CBE’s mission to gather together and discuss this important topic,” said Mimi Haddad, president of CBE.
In its effort to advance a biblical foundation for gift-based rather than gender-based service, CBE sponsors annual conferences, facilitates local chapters, hosts an online book service, and publishes two award-winning journals. For more information, visit http://www.cbeinternational.org.
