Upcoming Webinar from WPL Publishing to Examine the Impact of Rework on Construction Projects
Washington, DC (PRWEB) July 19, 2013 -- Later this month, WPL Publishing will host a webinar to help professionals within the construction community understand and address issues relating to rework on projects.
Rework in the construction industry is frequent and well known. It is considered a drain on productivity, profitability, and timeliness of project delivery for both contractors and owners. Additionally, the need for rework can have spinoff or downstream impacts for all project stakeholders. The causes of rework are, likewise, very well known and include design and construction changes, errors and omissions, project enhancements, operability changes, fabrication changes and errors, among other things. The webinar is designed to help construction professionals reduce the need for rework on their projects and, when it does occur, minimize the impact. To register for the 90-minute program, slated for Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. (EDT), visit http://tinyurl.com/ls2yr7q.
The webinar, entitled “The Impact of Rework on Construction Projects and Some Practical Remedies,” is expected to help attendees do the following:
- Assess and identify the typical cost of rework for a wide range of project types.
- Understand how the cost of rework is frequently understated and get an estimate of the true “average cost” of rework.
- Recognize the average impact of rework on project duration in terms of lost time.
- Similarly, become aware of unrecoverable extended overhead and liquidated-damages costs from rework.
- Identify several practical methods that can be employed by owners and contractors to reduce -- substantially -- the cost and time impact of rework.
Addressing webinar attendees will be Navigant Construction Forum Executive Director James Zack and Nigel Hughes, associate director of Navigant Consulting Inc.’s construction practice.
Mr. Zack once served as executive director of corporate claims management for Fluor Corp., an engineering, procurement, construction, and maintenance contractor. In the construction claims field, he is a recognized and published expert in mitigation, analysis, and resolution or defense of construction claims and disputes.
Mr. Hughes has more than 17 years of experience in both corporate and consulting capacities in Europe, Australia, and the United States. His experience encompasses consulting services related to transaction activity, operational and organizational development, and support for disputes and litigation across all sectors of commercial and residential real estate.
Following their presentations, there will be an interactive 10-to-15 minute question-and-answer session addressing relevant topics.
Webinar tuition is based on location, not number of participants, so each registration site can have multiple participants for one low price. To register, visit http://tinyurl.com/ls2yr7q.
