Springbrook to Hold Training Regarding Access of Services for People with Special Needs
Oneonta, NY (PRWEB) July 18, 2013 -- Springbrook, a leading provider of innovative supports for people with special needs, will host two New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities [OPWDD] informational sessions regarding access of services. The sessions will be held on August 7, 2013 at the Springbrook offices located at 5588 State Highway 7 in Oneonta, NY.
Kathy Creagh, NYS Developmental Disabilities Regional Office Liaison, will facilitate the presentation entitled FRONT DOOR: Access to Services. Two sessions will be offered, one from 3-5 p.m. and another from 6-8 p.m. Individuals not currently receiving OPWDD services as well as those with services looking to receive alternative supports are highly encouraged to attend.
FRONT DOOR: Access to Services will introduce the mission and philosophy of OPWDD, provide an overview of all OPWDD services, and detail how to access services. It will focus on the Eligibility, Assessment, Service Planning, and Service Authorization process by which individuals and families access OPWDD services for the first time, including recent or upcoming high school graduates. FRONT DOOR: Access to Services will also touch on Medicaid and Home & Community Based Services Waiver enrollment, district resources for Diagnostic Evaluation, and the basics of Consolidated Supports and Services—self-directed rather than traditional agency-based supports.

Both sessions are open to the public or may by used as a Family Education and Training credit. Please indicate if you will be using a Family Education and Training credit when RSVPing for a session.
