North American Hunting Competition’s 2013 National Antelope Contest Now Underway
Sherwood, Oregon (PRWEB) July 19, 2013 -- Serious hunters can now showcase their trophy deer to compete locally and nationally for prizes and bragging rights in the North American Hunting Competition’s antelope contest.
“An antelope hunt is one of those special western hunting treats that most of us will only get to do once or twice in our lives if we are lucky. Experiencing a good antelope hunt is truly a western treasure!” said Dave Seida, North American Hunting Competition co-founder. “The rolling plains with the consummate wind…the heat shimmers that look like moving glass in the distance and a trophy that has eyes that are second to none! Our national antelope contest gives hunters across the country a chance to make the most of their hunts, showcase their trophies and see where they stack up against others.”
Here is how to enter:
1. Get Registered
Visit northamericanhuntingcompetition.com and on the main page ‘Click Here to Enter Competition.’ Then, follow the instructions to be walked through the entry process. The contest entry fee is an affordable ten dollars which can be paid by credit card on our completely secure and compliant site. Contests for nearly all huntable species are available with the exception of cougar and grizzly. The antelope competition is a national contest where entrants compete against hunters across North American and can see where their trophy stands.
2. Get Hunting
After a successful hunt, give the trophy 60 days drying time just as required in Pope &Young, Boone & Crocket, or SCI contests. Have the trophy measured using a printable score sheet from our website by a qualified measurer. We also accept score sheets from any of the state books or the big three record books as long as they are in Boone and Crocket or SCI format. The gross score will be recorded as the final score. Send the scoring sheet along with an infield photo and official entry form.
3. Scoring and Prizes
Log into http://www.northamericanhuntingcompetition.com to view rankings and photos of your trophy, score and howan entry is ranking in the competition. In this year’s competition, no animals may be harvested beyond Dec 31 but entries will be accepted until March 31.
On April, the big game contests close and final rankings in all competitions are set and the top three trophies in each competition split the pot with first place winners receiving 25 percent, second place winner 15 percent and 10 percent to third place. The pot consists of half of the entry money collected for a given competition—so the more hunters who enter, the larger the award pot.
All contest entrants will receive a participation certificate with their ranking in the competition and will be eligible to win prizes in a free giveaway held in January or early February 2014. Prizes have included a free guided elk hunt with High Lonesome Hunts on a 130k acre private ranch in Oregon, HECS suits, hats and knives. Visit the North American Hunting Competition YouTube site to see last year’s winners. Also, anyone who enters a trophy is entered in a separate drawing to win a head mount from Simcoe Mountain Taxidermy.
