July is Month of Freedom: Tip Sheet from President of Venetian Builders, Inc., Miami, on Winning Freedom from Your Home’s Shortcomings
MIAMI, FL (PRWEB) July 19, 2013 -- When a home seems too small, crowded, dingy or noisy, moving to another home isn’t the only solution to the problems, said Chris Noe, president of Venetian Builders, Inc., Miami. Since July is a month of celebrating freedom, Noe decided to pass along some tips for winning freedom from some of these common problems that homeowners face.
Noe’s company designs and installs aluminum sunroom additions, patio covers and outdoor screen rooms, including pool enclosures, in West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, the Keys and all surrounding South Florida communities.
“It’s great that we live in a country where, if we can afford to, we can pick up and move when a house no longer meets our needs,” Noe said. “But moving is expensive. Consider alternatives.”
The average in-state move for Americans costs $2,300, according to the website angieslist.com. “And having movers pack for you will cost even more,” Noe said.
Add to that the cost of having a real estate agent sell the house, and moving and its related costs can easily top $20,000, Noe said.
“You could do substantial remodeling for the money you would spend on moving,” Noe said. “By staying in place you eliminate having to pack, unpack, adapt to a new neighborhood, make new friends and worry about whether the kids will adjust to a new school. You could spend weeks just finding a new place.”
Noe suggests winning freedom from these common problems:
-Crowding. “Winning freedom from crowding often requires adding interior space,” Noe said. His suggestion: “Figure out what functions you need your new space to serve so that you’ll relieve crowding elsewhere. If the living room is crowded, consider adding play space or a family room. If the kids lack space for doing homework, a study or den might be a good idea.”
Sometimes crowding results because family members don’t take advantage of a deck or swimming pool, Noe said. “If the kids are indoors because they don’t like fighting off bugs outside, consider a screen enclosure,” Noe suggested. “Screening will get the kids out of the house and onto the deck or in the pool.”
-Clutter. “Sometimes all it takes to obtain freedom from clutter is to build in cabinetry and shelving,” Noe said. “If you add space, with a sunroom or insulated patio enclosure, be sure to include storage areas – shelves for books, cabinets for toys and games, and maybe a yard-accessed storage area for tools and pool accessories.”
-Dinginess. “Sometimes, homes aren’t crowded so much as just dark and dingy, which can make them feel closed-in,” Noe said. “You can win freedom from dark spaces by adding an aluminum sunroom or patio enclosure that provides bright, airy interior space. We even offer giant skylights that fill a sun room or patio room with sunlight. And they’re so strong they meet code.”
-Noise. “How do you free yourself from noise when a TV, stereo, computer and a favorite reading chair are all in the same room?” Noe asked. Again, Noe suggested adding space: “Add a solarium where reading and relaxing become the priority, or a sunroom to function as a home theater, so that watching movies and playing computer games there creates serenity elsewhere in the home.”
